The Delaware House on the southeast corner of Clinton Street and Railroad Avenue was the only hotel in the village at one time.. This large frame building was erected in 1858 by Charles Cool. Passengers traveling on the Delaware, Lackawanna and Western Railroad kept the hotel a busy and profitable business for such proprietors as George Hiles, J. & D. Hildebrant and D. S. Ayers. Residents of Delaware could pick up their mail at the Hotel. By approximately the 1960;s. the Jabberwocky Discotheque had taken over the establishment.
